About the house
The house, although traditional in appearance, was built in 1974 using old materials such as tiles and large wooden beams. Recent additions to the house have considerably enlarged and enhanced the facilities.
The accommodation is arranged on two levels. On the main level, the reception hall leads into the large open plan, vaulted living room which is comfortably furnished with sofas and a refectory-style dining table. The room has a large open fireplace, and superb views towards the sea, and opens onto external terraces on two sides. The living room has hi-fi, digital television, and video facilities.
The Provencal kitchen is well appointed with an electric oven and microwave, gas hob, refrigerator and freezer, dishwasher and food processor.
Across the front courtyard there is a magnificent vaulted salle á manger dété, with spectacular views towards the mountains, through the large arched windows. The room is furnished with a dining table, and a wrought iron sofa and chairs. A covered arcade, on another side of the courtyard, accommodates a smaller, sheltered sitting area with cane chairs and a Provencal bench and serves as a cool shaded area in the heat of the summer.
The reception hall leads into the bedroom areas, along a curved, glassed corridor overlooking the courtyard. On the main level, there are four double bedrooms, two with ensuite facilities, and two sharing a bathroom and separate toilet.
Guest bedroom 1 opens onto its own terrace, overlooking the swimming pool and towards the sea. There beds can be arranged as two singles or one 6ft double. The ensuite bathroom has a bath, with shower, basin, and toilet.
Guest bedroom 2 overlooks a small terrace and the gardens but has a side aspect towards the sea. The beds can be arranged as two singles or one 6ft double, and the ensuite shower room has a large shower cubicle, basin and toilet.
Guest bedrooms 3 and 4 can be used together for a family.
Bedroom 3 has two single beds
and Bedroom 4 has two single beds, which can be used as a 6ft double. Although each bedroom has a separate access door, they connect through a small hall, leading into
a separate toilet and bathroom, with bath, shower cubicle, and basin. Bedroom 3 overlooks the garden, and bedroom 4 overlooks the mountains and has a door leading into the salle á manger dété.
At the end of the corridor a glass door opens onto the sitting arcade and a curved staircase leads to the tower. The master bedroom in the tower has spectacular views in all directions, and has a 6ft double bed.
Glass doors open onto a rooftop terrace, overlooking the mountains, the vineyard and a new olive grove. The bathroom has a bath, shower cubicle, double basins and toilet, and again, wonderful views over the countryside. You can lie in the bath and look out towards the sea.
On a lower level, below the main accommodation, is a store room and laundry room with a sink, washing machine, tumble dryer, freezer and additional refrigerator. Also on this level is the housekeepers accommodation, which has a completely separate entrance and drive, from the far side of the vineyard.
On the west side of the house, looking out towards the sea is an irregularly shaped swimming pool about 30 ft by 18 ft with and 8 ft deep end with underwater lighting. The pool is gated on all entrances either from the house or from the garden. There is complete privacy around the pool. The pool can be heated if necessary by arrangement, and has a pool cover. The pool is fitted with two surface security sensory devices that can be set when the pool is not in use.
In a ruined wall, which protects the pool to the west, is a large barbecue. Meals can be eaten on the terrace between the barbecue and the pool, elsewhere around the pool area, or on any of the terraces surrounding the house, depending on the time of day and the weather. Extensive gardens surround the house.
The large drive has space for several cars and also serves well as a boules pitch. There is access to the house by a large sweeping entrance staircase. Another drive leads up to the side of the house, allowing more direct access for unloading.
House Management and Staff
The housekeepers are responsible for the security, maintenance and cleaning of the house, gardens and swimming pool. They meet tenants on arrival and organise any specific requirements, such as additional cleaning staff, cooking, taxis, baby-sitting and so forth and are at hand to help with any problems you may encounter. They are locals and so have a very good knowledge of the area and speak several languages including excellent English.
